Four Decades of Legal Excellence
Gusty A.E. Sunseri’s path to becoming one of Pennsylvania’s most respected attorneys began at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. Sunseri excelled in the classroom and double-majored in economics and administrative management sciences. He also thrived on the football field and was named an All-American. After graduating with high honors, Sunseri earned his law degree from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 1983.
Following law school, Sunseri gained valuable experience as a tax associate with Touche Ross before joining the law firm of Doepken, Keevican & Weiss as an associate attorney. There, he refined his skills across multiple legal areas, laying the foundation for a broad and successful legal career. He founded Gusty Sunseri & Associates, P.C., in 1984 to better serve the needs of Pennsylvania residents.
Over the years, Sunseri has built a reputation as a sharp legal strategist and trusted advisor to people and businesses. He has handled complex criminal defense cases involving DUI, drug offenses, and white-collar crimes, and has successfully pursued compensation for victims in personal injury and wrongful death claims. He also helps Pennsylvania families with estate planning and probate issues while supporting entrepreneurs in building strong businesses across the state. Sunseri is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
In recognition of his exceptional legal skill and professional dedication, Gusty A.E. Sunseri has received a “Superb” Avvo rating and was previously named to The Best Lawyers in America.
About Super Lawyers
Super Lawyers uses a multi-phase, highly selective process to identify outstanding attorneys in each state. The process begins with peer nominations, where attorneys recommend colleagues they’ve personally observed. To help ensure fairness, lawyers cannot nominate themselves. Furthermore, nominations from outside an attorney’s firm carry more weight than internal ones.
After gathering nominations, Super Lawyers conducts independent research on each candidate. The research team evaluates nominees using 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition. These factors include the lawyers’ verdicts and settlements, years of experience, honors and awards, bar and professional activity, scholarly contributions, special certifications, and any leadership roles within their firm. The team also considers an attorney’s community service and pro bono work.
The final step involves a blue ribbon panel of top-rated attorneys from various practice areas. These panelists review the highest-scoring candidates before making final selections. Only up to 5 percent of attorneys in each state earn a place on the Super Lawyers list annually.
