Paternity Test – Be Sure BeforeYou Start Paying Child Support

On Behalf of | Jan 8, 2015 | Child Support

You have probably heard the saying that life sometimes does not go as planned. Well as many young adults have found, sometimes life comes without a plan-especially when sex is involved. The costs associated with child support can be astronomical.

Research shows that there are more than 1.6 million children born out of wedlock every year. I am sure it is safe to say that the vast majority of those born were not planned pregnancies. Of course, accompanying those births comes significant financial obligations otherwise known as child support. In Pennsylvania, child support can last from shortly after the child is born until the child is emancipated. Emancipation occurs at age 18 or upon graduation from high school. Accordingly, accepting responsibility for a child should not be taken lightly. In other words, if you are the male obligor, its worth every sent to make sure that the child is yours. So, if you suddenly get served child support papers, it’s in your best interest to hire a good child support attorney who will make sure that a paternity test is completed before you sit down and make a financial obligation that could last 18 years.
