Property Division — "Equitable Distribution"

One of the most critical issues in any divorce is property division. In the state of Pennsylvania, all property acquired during a marriage — with a few exceptions — is considered marital property and is subject to equitable distribution.

The term equitable distribution simply means fair distribution. If you do not reach a marital settlement agreement with your spouse, a judge will decide what is fair for you. Retaining an experienced divorce lawyer is the best way to protect your financial rights in a divorce.

My Background in Economics and Business

Since property division and financial issues are critical in any divorce, it is important that you retain an attorney with a strong financial background. Prior to becoming an attorney, I received a Bachelors of Science in Economics and a Bachelors of Science in Administrative Management Science (business) from Carnegie Mellon University.

Prior to founding my law firm, I worked as a tax associate at a Big 8 tax firm. I gained invaluable negotiation experience while working as an agent for professional athletes - during which time I negotiated contracts totaling nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars.

My Trial Experience

The vast majority of all divorce cases do not go to trial. As a result, some divorce attorneys with as much as five or 10 years of experience have little or no trial experience. Because I have 33 years of legal experience, I have the trial experience necessary to protect your rights should your case go to trial.

My Approach

My goal is to resolve your case as efficiently and amicably as possible while fully preserving your financial and parental rights. Most of my divorce cases are settled without the necessity of trial because I am practical and proactive. When cases cannot be resolved by agreement, I aggressively protect my client's rights and interests at trial.
