Hostile Workplace

On Behalf of | Sep 27, 2015 | Hostile Workplace

By Judy Hale Reed, Esq., Associate Attorney, of Gusty Sunseri & Associates, P.C.

What exactly is a hostile workplace? How bad does it have to be? To be a hostile workplace, harassment has to be “severe and pervasive,” and it has to negatively impact your job performance. The harassment does not have to be based on a protected category (race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, or sexual orientation), or retaliatory. Your manager or employer is responsible for your work environment, and may be held responsible for harassment in the workplace.

Although Pennsylvania is an at-will employment state, you may have a cause of action if the harassment is severe and pervasive.

If you think you may be suffering in a hostile workplace in Pennsylvania, call our law office for a free consultation with an experienced attorney.
