Marriage and Divorce – The Role of the Husband

On Behalf of | Dec 12, 2013 | Divorce

This is what the Bible says concerning the role of the husband, Ephesians 5:23,25,28,31. “A husband is the head of his wife, as Christ is the head and Savior of the church, which is His own body. A husband should love his wife as much as Christ loved the church and gave His life for it. In the same way, a husband should love his wife as much as he loves himself. A love who loves his wife shows he loves himself. As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother to get married and he becomes like one person with his wife.”

There are number of key words I will draw from these scriptures in dealing with the role of the husband. I use the scripture because of what I said earlier – marriage is God’s idea, therefore, it is important to look to his Words for guidance on this very important matter.

The word husband literally means “farmer, cultivator”.
1. A band around which keeps everyone and everything together.
2. One who directs and manages.
3. To use or employ in the manner best suited to produce the greatest effects.

The husband’s role is more than just going to work and “bringing home the bacon.”
